Operations Manager- National Peening, Greenville
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing the leadership to develop a strong Operations Team to manage a peening service center operations.
This position is essential to maintaining Sinto Surface Technologies (National Peening and Technical Metal Finishing) position as a provider of highly competent, reproducible, robust, quality parts. This position is equally responsible for development and process improvement for existing lines-of-business and the development of future lines of business per our strategic objectives in conjunction with the Plant Manager.
This position includes working with exempt and hourly employees actively participating, promoting and compliance with EH&S programs and policies.
The position is accountable for assessing and monitoring site compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal environmental regulations. This person is responsible for the installation of systems and maintenance of all equipment that support manufacturing activities.
All managers, supervisors, and employees are responsible for supporting company quality policies and initiatives, as well as promoting and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
The Operations Supervisor may be asked to support any other projects or activities assigned which are viewed to be in the best interest of the Organization.
Major Responsibilities (MR’s) And Performance Standards (PS’s) include:
Manage and Execute New Product Development/Process Improvement Programs
- Implement standard work that defines the process for conducting a new product development and a continuous process improvement program.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality policy, company
- Standards regulatory and external manufacturing and material standards.
- Effectively interact with production team in developing improved processes on existing business and new processes including the required part and align gage fixtures, and part inspection methods.
- Define tooling design requirements and fabrication and procurement sourcing options.
- Create saturation curves that meet design requirements, as needed.
- Develop processing parameters associated with shot peening that meet design requirements.
- Maintain controls and documentation procedures per Quality Manual.
Engineering and Maintenance Responsibilities
- Maintain development work instructions that include process data, test and laboratory results.
- Create and draft process flow maps and dynamic control plans.
- Create and maintain fixture and part tooling design drawings.
- Maintain a file of computer programs employed to process part, if applicable.
- Generate parts FAI, first article inspection report as called out by customer.
- Interface with the quality team to assure all records are appropriately documented and controlled.
- Develop skills to manage CNC and Control System programs and systems, including development of new programs as appropriate and linked to MR 1, if required.
Additional Requirements
- Have strong mechanical aptitude to understand process equipment in order to achieve business objectives.
- Develop robust programs that are production ready for new products.
- Develop process, working with Plant Manager to manage product flow within facility, and have the skills necessary to interface with the Customer to manage product flow.
- Work with Plant Manager and Maintenance staff to develop TPM program for plant to ensure maximum up-time and availability for equipment. See MR 4.
- Have strong communication skills with both internal and external Customers, both written and verbal.
- Conduct business with a high level of integrity, ethics and conduct; operate within the guidelines of all company policies and within the legal boundaries of all applicable laws.
- Support the Company’s safety and quality program
Manage internal and external maintenance activities including proactive maintenance activities, critical spare parts and equipment failure reduction.
- Develop and implement equipment history data base to use equipment history for critical spare parts and proactive maintenance activities.
- Implement maintenance cross training program.
- Develop and monitor Preventative maintenance and proactive maintenance criteria for production and production support systems and equipment.

Education and/or Experience:
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience or training. Three (3) to five (5) years prior experience in product design, manufacturing processes, computer programming and hands-on production experience. Training in world class manufacturing principles and Kaizen events is a desired skill set.
Demonstrated experience working with and directing tasks assigned to suppliers, distributors and contractors.
Strong computer skills are required.
Awareness or understanding the elements of ISO and aerospace quality management systems, both industry wide and OEM is desirable.
Sense of urgency required to resolve development issues and implement corrective/preventative actions.
Language Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, training and leadership skills, and organizational skills are required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as blue prints, technical instructions/processes, regulatory procedure manuals, industrial regulations and customer quality specifications. Must have strong computer skills, demonstrate initiative and interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization. Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees is essential.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, microns and inches, and use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Statistical comprehension is needed. Able to employ statistical data packages to do trend analysis and define process capability limits is required.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to make difficult decisions, sometimes with an incomplete set of data is essential. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish root cause and draw conclusions to resolve issues. The ability to use strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and human relations skills is required. Critical skills include: timely execution of tasks, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, and commitment; developing others, establishing direction, drive for change, tenacity, and getting organization support.

Computer, copier, fax, optical microscope, surface analyzer, media particle sieve analysis, air gage calibration equipment, tachometers, shot flow monitors and basic hand tools. Ability to both program and troubleshoot process controllers and robotic processing equipment is key to meeting the job requirements, if applicable.
