ASF Government Fly in AffairsIn June, Sinto had the privilege of joining fellow American Foundry Society (AFS) members from across the supply chain at the 2025 Government Affairs Fly-In in Washington, D.C. The event brought together industry leaders to engage directly with policymakers, advocate for the metalcasting industry, and gain firsthand insight into legislation impacting businesses nationwide. This collaborative effort allowed participants to unite around shared priorities, strengthening the future of U.S. metalcasting and ensuring the industry’s voice is heard in critical policy discussions.

As a follow-up to the Fly-In, Sinto America welcomed Congressman Tom Barrett to their manufacturing facility on August 25. The meeting highlighted the vital role foundries play in the U.S. economy, while providing an opportunity to discuss industry successes, challenges, and the foundry equipment needed to produce high-quality castings. Congressman Barrett also met with Sinto employees, seeing firsthand the dedicated professionals who form the backbone of the industry.

During the visit, Michael Halsband, President of Sinto America and AFS Board Member, presented comprehensive data from AFS that showcased the size, scale, and economic impact of the U.S. foundry industry. He also shared a brief history of Sintokogio and Sinto America, highlighting their long-standing contributions to advancing metalcasting technology and supporting American manufacturing.

Key topics of discussion included tariffs, regulatory challenges, energy concerns, and the uncertainty affecting investment decisions in the foundry sector. These conversations underscored the importance of continued collaboration between industry leaders and policymakers to ensure a future for U.S. metalcasting.
