Mag Particle Inspection (MPI)

Magnetic Particle Inspection Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is a process used to detect surface and subsurface defects in ferromagnetic materials, such as Iron (Fe), Nickel (Ni), Cobalt (Co) and related transition metal alloys.  MPI is a standard process in a variety of industries including Aerospace, Transportation (Automotive, Locomotive, etc.) and Industrial applications.   Surface anomalies can be found by either directly or indirectly magnetizing the component; areas with discontinuities will show congregations of magnetic particles as applied to the surface.  Sinto Surface Technologies has these capabilities in-house at our Bedford Heights plant through a local partner and can partner with local approved sources at our other locations to provide this service.  As MPI typically precedes other surface modification processes, this canallow us to bundle capabilities to provide one-stop-shop services.

FEATURES:

  • Aerospace approved high sensitivity MPI processing
  • Convenient local or on-site processing of components
  • Allows for “One Purchase Order” approach to surface processing needs
