FRAZIER & FRAZIER SEES BENEFITS OF REPLACING OLD FBOV
Grand Ledge, MI October 23-
In spring of 2021, Frazier & Frazier Ind. purchased a FBOV 24×30 Flaskless Molding Machine. Frazier & Frazier Industries, Inc., established in 1972, is an ISO 9001:2015 registered gray and ductile iron foundry located in Central Texas. While understanding that quality, on-time delivery and cost competitiveness drive the industrial marketplace, Frazier & Frazier also works to augment that with a high level of Customer service and responsiveness to short fused demand.
Frazier first purchased molding and core machines from Sinto back in the late 80s and 90s. With the FBOV purchase in 2021, Frazier was looking to replace their older molding machine purchased in 1999. The new build/design of the FBOV, still would fit into their original footprint where the older machine was.
This FBOV is one of six FBOV machines in North America. The FBOV 24×30, has a mold height from (cope) of 9” and mold height to (drag) of 12”. The average maximum mold rate (without core setting) is 90/molds hour, and the molding system uses an edge blow + squeeze.
Frazier’s first production run on the FBOV was April of 2022. Since then, Frazier has seen savings in having less mechanical downtown and reduction in scrap with having a new machines vs an older, less efficient machine. Also, with the new industry 4.0 SINTO SMART FOUNDRY® Integration, Frazier has had a much easier time trouble shooting machine issues.
When asked about what benefits and improvements Frazier has seen since installing the new FBOV, Edward Frazier, Vice President at Frazier and Frazier stated, “One improvement area for us has been overall quality of our castings. We have seen vast improvements in the overall finish and tolerance of the castings by replacing the older machine.”
Along with the FBOV, Frazier also has four Sinto BARINDER Grinders. Sinto is thankful for Frazier’s confidence in the their equipment and the success they have had over the last several decades with their Sinto molding and grinding equipment. Brady Marshall, Sinto Regional Sales Manager, stated, “It was nice working with the Frazier and Frazier team on this project. With other options in the market for molding equipment, I am proud that Frazier and Frazier chose to stay with Sinto for their new molding machine. I am excited about the future of the foundry and look forward to continuing the relationship and supporting them.”
Sinto is looking forward to seeing Frazier and Frazier continue to lead the way in gray and ductile iron and supporting them throughout the years to come.
