Manitowoc Grey Iron Foundry Hits Million Mold Mile Stone
Continuing their manufacturing excellence, Manitowoc Grey Iron Foundry (MGIF) reached the million mold mile stone on their FBO-II Sinto Flaskless Molding Machine. Manitowoc is a semi-production, conventional and automatic molding green sand foundry that makes both gray, ductile, ADI, silicon moly and compacted graphite iron castings and serves customers through the Midwest. It continues to be a family owned and operated company and employs about 80 people.
Since the FBO-II was installed in 2006, Manitowoc has had very few issues. MGIF runs 300-600 molds per shift. Rob Peaslee, president of MGIF stated, “Our machine still has the original flask it came with. The monthly scrap averages under 2%.” MGIF has biannual facility performance reviews from a Sinto service technician for maintenance upkeep.
Sinto’s FBO line of molding machines are widely used in the foundry industry, as they offer a wide variety of mold dimensions and have a robust design that provides longevity. Learn more about Sinto’s Flaskless Molding Machines.
