Fluorescent Penetrate Inspection (FPI)
Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) is a process by which a high sensitivity dye is applied to a non-porous material in order to detect defects in the substrate. FPI ranges from low sensitivity, similar to red dye inspection to high sensitivity penetrants requiring several steps in order to develop the fluorescent dye to find minute defects in the substrate. Sinto Surface Technologies has in-house capabilities at our Bedford Heights plant and can offer these services at our other locations via partnerships with local approved vendors. As FPI typically precedes other surface modification processes, this can allow us to bundle capabilities to provide one-stop-shop services.
- Aerospace approved high sensitivity FPI processing
- Convenient local or on-site processing of components
- Allows for “One Purchase Order” approach to surface processing needs
